I want to thread memories of something lost, perhaps a possession, a dream or a friend.
Through the use of old discarded fabrics and solitary buttons I create patchwork people;
puzzles with missing pieces…
I create Embroideries inspired by snap-shots of friends, fashion photography, fairytales and lyrics.
My embroideries begin as pen & ink drawings from photos & magazines.In my work I use vintage fabric, felt. thread and buttons to create contemporary embroidered portraits. The textile portraits are created in a variety of ways, both hand and machine sewn and using elements of appliqué and cutouts.
I also create individual corsages and hairclips using fabric, lace, felt and buttons. I screen print my illustrations onto T-shirts, baby grows and cotton bags.
